Lab
The Creative Technology Lab was a project completed at London College of Communication in 2018 as a partnership between myself and colleagues, Adam Corrie, Delia Hamwood, Jackson Jessop, and Pete Newman.
The purpose of the project was to amalgamate a growing number of smaller facilities across the college into a single, large, dedicated facility.
The Lab was to provide students with a single point of contact for all physical computing, creative code, VR, AR and projection mapping support across the Design and Screen schools at LCC.
The Lab consisted of:
Office for up to 8 technicians and secure equipment storage
Small teaching area for 12 students
18 student work stations
4 fully specified electronics and soldering stations
3 reconfigurable VR booths
The main open plan area was fitted with Andolite internally wired bars, providing hanging points for lighting, projectors, speakers and other specialist equipment, as well as 13A power and CAT6e data.
This created an easily reconfigurable space, allowing staff to clear the area for larger scale projects and events.
