Greencoat
Building

As the UAL Creative Computing Institute has grown we’ve needed to develop more space.

In 2019 a space was identified, and then working through the pandemic I worked with colleagues Alyssa Becht and Steve Lockwood to convert this rundown space into a business incubator and teaching facilities for the Creative Computing Institute.

The building was a former Science and Technology College that had various uses over the past few decades, but had become run down in recent years while it hosted live-in security.

The objective of the project was to refurbish the building the so that it could host a business incubator, community out reach activities for Camberwell College of Art and teaching and technical facilities for UAL Creative Computing Institute, as well as office and meeting space for both.

By redividing the spaces we were able to create:

  • 2x 48 seat classrooms

  • 14x Staff Office Desks

  • 2x Meeting Rooms

  • Maker Lab

  • Dark Lab - For VR, AR, Interactive and Sound Installations
